Briefly describe several types of printing

1. Transfer printing:

The pigment is printed on the paper by printing method to make transfer printing paper, and then the color is transferred to the fabric by high temperature (heating and pressing on the back of the paper). It is generally used for chemical fiber fabrics, characterized by bright colors, fine layers, lifelike patterns and strong artistry. However, this process is currently only applicable to a few synthetic fibers such as polyester. Transfer printing process is simple, investment is small, and production is flexible. It is popular in the market at present.

2. Discharge printing:

Discharge printing uses dyes that are not resistant to discharge agents to dye the ground color. After drying, it uses color dye printing paste containing discharge agents or at the same time containing discharge agents to print. During post-processing, the ground color dye at the printing place is destroyed and faded to form white patterns on the color ground or color patterns formed by dyeing color dyes. It is also called white pulling or color pulling.

3. Reduced volume printing:

This process takes advantage of the difference in chemical corrosion resistance of different fibers in interwoven or blended fabrics, and applies burn out agent through printing method to remove one fiber locally in the fabric and retain other fibers to form a translucent pattern. Also called burn out printing or burnt out printing.

4. Shrink printing:

The printing method is used to locally apply chemicals that can make the fiber expand or shrink on the fabric. Through proper treatment, the difference between the fiber in the printing part and the fiber in the non printing part is caused by expansion or shrinkage, so as to obtain products with regular concave convex patterns on the surface. Such as pure cotton printed seersucker with caustic soda as expansion agent. Also called bump printing.

5. Flat screen printing:

The printing die is a polyester or nylon screen (pattern) fixed on a square frame with hollow patterns. The pattern on the pattern plate can pass through the color paste, and the mesh without pattern can be closed with a polymer film. When printing, the pattern presses the fabric tightly, and the pattern is filled with color paste, which is scraped and pressed repeatedly with a scraper to make the color paste reach the fabric surface through the pattern. Flat screen printing has low production efficiency, but wide adaptability and flexible application, which is suitable for small batch and multi variety production.

6. Rotary screen printing:

The printing mold is a cylindrical nickel screen with hollow patterns, which is installed above the rubber guide belt in a certain order and can rotate synchronously with the guide belt. When printing, the color paste is input into the screen and stored on the bottom of the screen. When the rotary screen rotates with the guide belt, the scraper tightly pressed on the bottom of the screen and the screen are relatively scraped, and the color paste reaches the fabric surface through the pattern on the screen.

Rotary screen printing belongs to continuous processing, with high production efficiency. It has the advantages of both cylinder and flat screen printing, but it has certain limitations in pattern fineness and printing color intensity. Remember: the color selection of rotary screen printing has certain limitations.

7. Pigment printing:

It is also called pigment printing. Because pigment is a non water-soluble coloring material and has no affinity for fibers, its coloring must be achieved by coating the film forming polymer compound (adhesive) and adhesion to fibers. Pigment printing can be used for the processing of any fiber textiles. It has more advantages in the printing of blended and interwoven fabrics, and has simple process, wide chromatography, clear flower outline, but poor hand feel and low rubbing fastness.
